I run this site and newsletter personally. This page explains what data gets collected and why.

What I collect

When you subscribe, I store your email address, subscription status (pending confirmation, confirmed, or unsubscribed), and optional source metadata (for example, which page you used to subscribe).

Reading the public site does not require an account. The subscribe form asks for an email address only.

How I use it

I send a confirmation email when you subscribe (double opt-in), a welcome email after you confirm, and occasional emails when I publish a new essay. I do not sell or rent subscriber lists.

Email delivery

Newsletter messages are sent through Maileroo . They process your address to deliver mail on my behalf. I do not use your email for anything else through that service.

Site analytics

The live site may use Plausible Analytics for aggregate page views. Plausible does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. I use it to see which articles get read, not to build advertising profiles.

Retention

Confirmed subscribers stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribed addresses are kept only as long as needed to honor unsubscribe requests and prevent accidental resends.

Your choices

Every message includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email [email protected] to request removal.
